La Chaise is a lounge chair designed by Charles & Ray Eames. The Eames found inspiration in a sculpture by Gastons 'Floating Figure'. The designed La chaise in 1948 for a competition by the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The chair did not win, but it did receive a special mention for its silhouette. Eames saw the competition more as a staring point in the development of chairs made of fiberglass. When the chair was put into production, art was actually made of fiberglass. However in 2001 it was decided to switch to polyurethane that is finished with a white lacquer. The base is made of chrome-played tubular steel with a solid oak base. This design stands out for its elegance and is perfect for various purposes: from chic lobbies to homely atmospheres.
Beautiful iconic piece.Vitra design object in good condition with some super tiny user marks, like some light scratches.
