TC2, van den Nieuwelaar

1 In Stock

This as good as new original TC2 floor lamp is designed by Aldo van den Nieuwelaar, Holland, 1969 and produced in 1972.

Aldo van den Nieuwelaar (1944-2010) was one of the most outstanding Dutch designers of the 1960s and 1970s. After his graduation from the academy of arts, he started to work for the highly influential Dutch designer Benno Premsela. Inspired by his employer, the De Stijl movement and Minimalist art of the 1960s Van den Nieuwelaar developed a stringent geometrical style. In 1969, shortly after opening his own office, Van den Nieuwelaar came up with a series of lamps which were all based on the application of fluorescent tubes. The entire range was exhibited at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and subsequently taken into limited batch production by Artimeta. This floor lamp was from the TC series that were designed in 1969 and at first produced in very small numbers, produced between 1972 and 1974. The floor lamp has an amazing shape and the base contains the transformer that was quite heavy so this also was the counter weight for this lamp. The lamp is in excellent working condition and gives very nice light when lit. The pipe can rotate so you can adjust the light beam. The original thick tubes are still available and even to get in different colors. Colors can also be changed by original tube covers in yellow, red, blue etc.
