Charles (1907-1978) and Ray (1912-1989) Eames. USA Born in St. Louis, Charles Eames studied architecture at the Washington University. In 1936 he received a fellowship at the Cranbrook Academy of Arts in Michigan. His collegues there included, Bertoia, Saarinen and Ray Kaiser whom he married in 1941. During the second world war he and Ray produced plywood leg and arm splints, developing an new method of bending plywood over three geometric planes into complex curves. In 1946 Charles Eames and Eero Saarinen designed the winning entry for the competition Organic Design in Home Furnishing held at the MOMA. In 1946 the MOMA gave Eames his first ‘one man show’ (new furniture by Charles Eames). Charles and Ray Eames worked closely together with a selected manufacturer i the U.S.A, who later also produced their products, often in a less original way, in Europe, creating highly innovative home and office furniture. Later the Eames concentrated on film making, photography and exhibition design.. Sizes, materials and more is often different inbetween the companies, as well as the years of production on several items. Better check it out before ordering. We are able to mention all the differences and show you both. Pleasedon’t use us only as a knowledge centre and order somewhere else, coz we cannot survive than. Be loyal to a company whis is never more expensive in new, got a fair price in 2nd hand and donates a part of the profit to underprivileged handicapped youngsters in Asia.

Please inform about the differences before you buy any Eames piece since there is many fake items and the different legal producers produced or produce different models with very important details.
We've got original American glassfibre shells as well as the new European plastic ones, both including different bases.
The original pieces are including shockmounts and are mostly exchangable.
All the other models are also part of our collection, as well the original pieces as the recent ones.
