Magistretti is considered a designer of great significance for Italian design in the post-World War II era. Several of his designs, including the Maralunga sofa (1973), are on display at the New York Museum of Modern Art. “With the death of Vico Magistretti, Italian design loses one of its champions,” said Minister of Culture Francesco Rutelli. Many of Magistretti’s designs are considered design classics. Born in Milan in 1920, Magistretti initially worked for his father after training as an architect. He began his career as a designer in the early 1960s, working for renowned companies such as Asko, Artemide, Cassina, and Rosenthal. Italian designer Vico Magistretti died on Tuesday, September 19, 2006, at the age of 85. According to the newspaper La Repubblica, Magistretti was “the architect of simple things,” such as the Atollo lamp. He received numerous major awards for his work.
BeBoB was founded with a focus on recycling and started as a foundation, not profit-based.
For almost 40 years, it has specialised in collecting and selling midcentury design, focussing on the right matches more than how to get the best profit.
BeBoB charges reasonable prices for vintage and collector’s items.
Vintage Prices are approximately 35% to 65% of the new-to-order price, if items are still new in production. If not anymore in production they become collectibles.
Collectibles are also the original pieces from the design period of the items, which are still in production and are more expensive, but often a good investment out of scarcity.
