Ferrari-Hardoy, Jorge (1914-1977) Born in: Argentina Jorge Ferrari Hardoy was born in Buenos Aires in 1914. He graduated from the University of Buenos Aires in 1939 as an architect. He lived in Paris for many years, working there with Le Corbusier, among others. Upon returning to Argentina, he formed the “Grupo Astral.” The most important achievement of this group was the redesigned butterfly chair. The chair was likely inspired by an 1877 folding chair from England. This chair became the most copied chair ever. In the 1950s alone, various manufacturers sold approximately 5 million units. Ferrari Hardoy remained active as a designer and urban planner until his death. More information about him can be found in the English section of this website.
BeBoB was founded with a focus on recycling and started as a foundation, not profit-based.
For almost 40 years, it has specialised in collecting and selling midcentury design, focussing on the right matches more than how to get the best profit.
BeBoB charges reasonable prices for vintage and collector’s items.
Vintage Prices are approximately 35% to 65% of the new-to-order price, if items are still new in production. If not anymore in production they become collectibles.
Collectibles are also the original pieces from the design period of the items, which are still in production and are more expensive, but often a good investment out of scarcity.
