Cor Alons (1892 – 1967) was a Dutch interior architect and industrial designer.
He studied at the Minerva Academy in Groningen and the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. After graduating, he joined the firm H. Pander & Zn., designing furniture, interiors, and stained-glass windows, among other things. In 1923, he founded a design agency with designer Frits Spanjaard. They belonged to the first generation of interior architects and not only designed furniture but also considered the spaces in which the furniture would be placed. In 1923, Alons also co-founded Plateelbakkerij Duinvoet, for which he designed functionalist earthenware. In 1929, he became a lecturer in furniture construction at the Academy in The Hague, where he later also taught interior design. Alons was a member of the Hague Art Circle. From the late 1940s onward, he and Jan Jansen, following the example of the Eames designers, explored High Frequency (HF) technology. This technique involves gluing thin layers of wood together and pressing them under high pressure, creating an incredibly strong and virtually waterproof wood.
BeBoB was founded with a focus on recycling and started as a foundation, not profit-based.
For almost 40 years, it has specialised in collecting and selling midcentury design, focussing on the right matches more than how to get the best profit.
BeBoB charges reasonable prices for vintage and collector’s items.
Vintage Prices are approximately 35% to 65% of the new-to-order price, if items are still new in production. If not anymore in production they become collectibles.
Collectibles are also the original pieces from the design period of the items, which are still in production and are more expensive, but often a good investment out of scarcity.
