Eero Aarnio (born 1932) is a Finnish interior designer known for his innovative furniture designs in the 1960s, particularly his plastic and fiberglass chairs. His Asko chair, which achieved worldwide fame after the 1966 Cologne Furniture Fair, was the first chair made of fiberglass. Aarnio studied at the Institute of Industrial Arts in Helsinki and started his own firm in 1962. The following year, he introduced his Ball Chair, a hollow area on a stand, open on one side to allow a person to sit inside. Also well-known is his Bubble Chair, a semi-open sphere made of transparent plexiglass, suspended from the ceiling by a chain. These are still in production. Other innovative designs include his floating Pastille Chair and the more stable Tomato Chair. Later in life, Aarnio resumed using more traditional materials such as wood.
BeBoB was founded with a focus on recycling and started as a foundation, not profit-based.
For almost 40 years, it has specialised in collecting and selling midcentury design, focussing on the right matches more than how to get the best profit.
BeBoB charges reasonable prices for vintage and collector’s items.
Vintage Prices are approximately 35% to 65% of the new-to-order price, if items are still new in production. If not anymore in production they become collectibles.
Collectibles are also the original pieces from the design period of the items, which are still in production and are more expensive, but often a good investment out of scarcity.
