Kjaerholm, Poul

Kjaerholm, Poul

Poul Kjærholm was born in 1929 in Oster Vra, Denmark. He apprenticed as a carpenter and studied design and furniture making at the Kunsthandvaerkerokolen in Copenhagen. After graduating, he taught at this school for four years, followed by 20 years at the Kongelige Dansk Kunstakademi in Copenhagen, where he became its director in 1976. Throughout his career, Poul designed furniture for mass production. From 1955 onwards, he collaborated with the furniture manufacturer E. Kold Christensen in Hellerup. From 1970 onwards, his work was acquired by Fritz Hansen. Kjærholm’s work was inspired by Le Corbusier. Poul Kjærholm died in 1980 in Hillerod, Denmark.

BeBoB was founded with a focus on recycling and started as a foundation, not profit-based.
For almost 40 years, it has specialised in collecting and selling midcentury design, focussing on the right matches more than how to get the best profit.
BeBoB charges reasonable prices for vintage and collector’s items.

Vintage Prices are approximately 35% to 65% of the new-to-order price, if items are still new in production. If not anymore in production they become collectibles.
Collectibles are also the original pieces from the design period of the items, which are still in production and are more expensive, but often a good investment out of scarcity.
