Pierre Paulin was born in Paris in 1927. He studied stone carving/engraving/sculpting at the École Camondo in Paris. In 1954, he began designing furniture for Thonet, and in 1958 he went to work for the Dutch company Artifort, which produced most of his work.
Paulin worked in Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, and the US, among other countries, but in the mid-1960s he founded his own industrial design firm in Paris. In 1968, Pierre designed chairs for the Louvre, and in 1969, he won the Associazione Peril Disegno Industrial award for his 582 lint chair (1965). In 1970, he was commissioned to furnish the private apartment in the Palais Élysée. Pierre Paulin also designed car interiors for Simca, packaging for Dior, telephones for Ericsson, and signage for the Musée d’Orsay.
BeBoB was founded with a focus on recycling and started as a foundation, not profit-based.
For almost 40 years, it has specialised in collecting and selling midcentury design, focussing on the right matches more than how to get the best profit.
BeBoB charges reasonable prices for vintage and collector’s items.
Vintage Prices are approximately 35% to 65% of the new-to-order price, if items are still new in production. If not anymore in production they become collectibles.
Collectibles are also the original pieces from the design period of the items, which are still in production and are more expensive, but often a good investment out of scarcity.
