Pierre Paulin (French, Born 1927) Pierre Paulin studied stone-carving and clay modeling at the Ecole Camondo in Paris. He began designing for Thonet in 1954 and Artifort in 1958. From 1967 to 1968, he designed a series of chairs using foam upholstery and polyester seats which were developed by Mobilier National.

In 1968, he was commissioned to refurbish the Louvre and the following year was awarded an A.I.D. award for the Ribbon chair, model no. 582. In 1970, he designed seating for Expo 1970 in Osaka and in 1971, he redesigned the private apartments of the Elysee Palace. In 1975, he founded ADSA + Partners and the practice was joined by Roger Tallon and Michael Schreiber in 1984. He was commissioned in 1983 to design furniture for the presidential office at the Elysee Palace.
