Marcel Breuer (1902-1981) Hungary Born in Hungary, Breuer spent a short time working in a Viennese architectural office before studying at the Bauhaus in Weimar from 1920 to 1924. After graduating he became master of the furniture workshop there and continued in that capacity when Bauhaus moved to Dessau in 1925.
More information He directed his own architectural firm in Berlin from 1928 to 1931 before leaving Germany to spent a year in London. In 1937 he emigrated to the United States and became an associated professor at the school of design at Harvard University. Between 1937 and 1941 he worked closely together with Walter Gropius in there architectural practice in Cambridge (MA). >From 1946 until his retirement he headed his own firm, Marcel Breuer and associates in New York.
